Proust Questionnaire

The Proust Questionnaire is on the last page of every Vanity Fair magazine and it is the first section that I turn to when I pick up a copy. When we returned from Europe at the end of May, I felt a shift in the sands of my personality and they haven’t finished settling yet. I completed my own condensed version of the Proust Questionnaire for two reasons: the first is to get a better sense of who I became and who I am continuing to become, and the second, well…you never know when Editor Graydon Carter will come a-calling!

What is your motto?
A combination of “Aim for magic, forget comfort” and “If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves”. I aspire to live by the words of Billy Munnelly and Thomas Edison every day.

Where would you like to live?
I want to find the key that unlocks the state of mind that I discovered on our honeymoon in May; it opens the door to a combination of creativity, courage and deep peace that teases out all of the best parts of my personality and banishes every trace of uncertainty.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Novelist and craftster by day, gin-soaked flapper by night.

What trait do you most deplore in yourself?
Procrastination drives me to distraction.

What are your favourite names?
Magnolia, Nicholas, Danny, Chandra

What talent would you like to have?
Focus, concentration and the ability to bring all of my capricious ideas to fruition.

What is your greatest fear?
That I won’t leave something they can remember me by.

When and where were you happiest?
Past life Answer: Reading and writing for hours during summer holidays. I would ‘wake up’ and realize that I spent a whole day in magical faraway world.
Present day Answer: In the magical faraway worlds of Scotland, Italy, Austria, and Liechtenstein May 08 – May 29 2008.

What are your answers to these questions?

Erika.

Agent Cooper Earns His Stripes

Agent Cooper has been with us for a month now. He’s got a ton of energy and he is getting smarter every day. We’re training him to ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘lie down’ and ‘stay’. ‘Sit’ is a piece of cake. He loves to sit. ‘Lie down’ and ‘stay’ are the trickiest. When he doesn’t understand what we want him to do, he looks at us with those big chocolate brown eyes of his and tries to figure out what we’re saying.

Yesterday when Joe returned from work, little Agent Cooper greeted him at the door. Normally, Cooper would be safe in his crate but the little genius picked the lock and freed himself. The damage wasn’t too bad – a pee on the kitchen floor and a chewed up bathmat.

Clearly, Agent Cooper is an excellent addition to the Undercover family.

Here's a quote for Cooper from Sparkletopia:

"If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves."
