Testing 1-2-3.

Hello!

Welcome to my blog.

Why did I decide to start blogging?

For one thing, reading blogs has become strangely addictive. You start reading someone's blog and suddenly you feel like you know them. It's 15 minutes of fame. You know what projects they're working on and the minutiae of their daily lives. My big inspiration were: Puff of Logic and Fig and Plum. One is a blog, the other a website. And I'm good and hooked. It's time to give something back.

For another thing, Joe and I just moved (it's our '2 week in the new place anniversary'). Hey, I just realized that we ordered Chinese food from the same restaurant that we ordered from when we moved. I'll get back to point #2 in a second because I've gotta point out: I realize a lot of things. Once a day...Once a week. Maybe these realizations will be interesting to other people. I'll share today's realization after I get back to point 2.

Point 2 is that I lost my journal. It's gotta be in here somewhere. But who knows where? Pas moi. There's so much going on right now that I don't want to forget anything. And I will! So there's another reason to blog it down.

So right. The realization. Today while walking to work, I saw someone who reminded me of myself about five years ago. Back before I worked in an Office. When I worked in a Bookstore. I'd see people walking to work in the Downtown Sector and promise myself that I'd never become an office drone. That I'd never be one of the cattle marching dutifully to Douglas Coupland's veal fattening pens.

At first I thought -- Oh crap! I caved. I am now a drone. But then I realized...hell no! I mean, yes, I work in an office. But it doesn't define my life. I have not (and pledge not to) become rigid in my thinking or less adventurous. I still try new things. And that's how I want to stay. Constant vigilance for any signs of giving up, stuck in a rut-edness.

And that's why I started this blog. I hope that you like it.

It's a pleasure to meet you. Have a great day!
