Holiday Show & Tell
Hi!
It's been a while since I've written and I've got a wicked cold so here's a quick holiday craft show & tell. Pour yourself a glass of mulled wine and enjoy!

This year, Joe and I decided to make ornaments out of Sculpey to use as gift tags. We were inspired by the handsome penguin that Jason made us a few years ago (pic below). Joe made the inspired Christmas Tree and I made the wreath.

After focusing on wreaths for a few weeks, I branched out and made an Artie ornament.

Looks a lot like the real thing, doesn't it??

November and December were really busy knitting months for me.
I made dishcloths for a fundraiser for Hopeful Hearts. After the wedding, I got 3 big skeins of Red Heart Super Saver yarn in red, green and white and I finished 12 of them by 29 November.
How To:
Each cloth takes about 3 hours to make.
Cast on 37 stitches and do 6 rows of seed stitch.
For the Paw: do 6 rows of stockinette and start on the Paw pattern on row 13.
I used this pattern for the paw.
For the Bone, do 11 rows of stockinette and start the Bone pattern on row 18. I couldn't find an intarsia pattern for the Bone so I used the circles in the Paw pattern as a jumping-off point and added a 6 row line between them.
Here they are blocking:

and rocking out:

On top of the dishcloths, I was also working on the Big Bad Baby Blanket from Stitch & Bitch for my friends, Jon and Mel who welcomed Ashlyn, their first baby, to their family on 22 December. I used Shetland Chunky in Sage Green. It turned out really soft, warm and washable (important!) and I love the rich, Christmasy green colour.
Here it is blocking:

And here is the detail of the stitch pattern:

The casualty of all this crafting was Joe's Christmas vest. :( It's the Retro Vest from "The Knitting (Man)ual" and I'm using Rowan Felted Tweed in colours 133 (navy), 157 (tan), 141 (light blue), 153 (chocolate brown). I finished the back on 27 December and started the front on the same day. I'm about 3 inches in and I'm hoping to have it done before Joe and Brad take B.Goods to Winterlude in February!
This is the back:

and detail of the colourwork:

Happy New Year!!
Erika.
